Earth Tech is a climate innovation program delivered in partnership by Social Innovation Canada and Foresight Canada, supporting ventures working to advance Canada’s transition toward a more resilient, net-zero future. I was approached to create a publication celebrating the ventures, programs and organizations helping shape Canada’s climate future.
The book needed to communicate the scale and importance of the work while showcasing a diverse group of emerging companies, technologies and ideas in a way that felt engaging, optimistic and forward-looking.
The creative direction focused on making the publication feel modern, innovative and forward-looking. Clean typography, bold editorial layouts and a contemporary visual language helped communicate complex ideas in a way that felt accessible and engaging, while reinforcing the sense of momentum and possibility that defines the climate-tech sector.
From a design perspective, the challenge was creating a visual system that could bring together many different organizations, each with its own branding, imagery and story, without the publication feeling fragmented. I developed a flexible editorial framework with a strong typographic hierarchy, structured layouts and a consistent visual language that allowed each venture to retain its individuality while still feeling part of a cohesive whole.
The final design balances the technical nature of the climate sector with a more accessible and contemporary editorial approach. Bold typography, dynamic compositions, photography and graphic elements give the publication a sense of momentum and innovation, creating a piece that feels both credible and progressive while keeping the focus on the people and ideas driving meaningful climate solutions across Canada.
